Hiking the Butte

Today was a beautiful day, so Tim decided that we should hike the Butte. For those of who don't know, the Butte is only 875 ft. tall (a 30 minute hike) and offers a magnificent view of Pioneer Peak, Matanuska Peak, the Mat-Su River, Mat-Su Glacier, and the whole Mat-Su Valley.

It was Dominic's first hike and he loved it! At the top of the butte Dominic walked around all over the place, tried to climb some of the rocks, and even tried eating some of the smaller ones. My mother, sister (Chrissy), niece (Maria), and brother (Sam) all joined us on the hike, and it was so fun to have company. We loved the views, and feel so blessed to live in this beautiful valley. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!

An extra 20 lbs. on a hike can make all the differences, but Maria's cuteness more than made up for the extra weight.

Maria doesn't look too impressed...

It was a hot day for Alaskans (78 degrees)!

Enjoying the top!

Pioneer Peak looks so majestic shaded by clouds while the sun shines on the green fields.

This boy loved walking around, and didn't want to get back into his carrier.
