Well the Hall family made their first Christmas newsletter! However, we were not able to mail it to everyone (we decided to make a family newsletter in the midst of moving to Alaska-smart idea right?). If you did not receive a physical letter, don't be offended, we still love you! I will post the letter so all can enjoy!

Who
are we?
We
are Tim, Irene, and Dominic Hall – a mix of rugged Alaskan independence and
Idahoan…whatever-they-have-in-Idaho, with a dash of 6-month old smiles,
screeches, and slobber (mostly smiles and slobber). We are also a highly
practiced and accomplished clown-act (isn’t that what parenting a six-month-old
is all about?), a young couple sprinting into life with kindled dreams, and the
happiest family on the block (if you live on our block, get used to second
place).

Highlights
from 2013
This
was a big year for us as a family. Irene
graduated from BYU-Idaho with an Associate of Science in General Studies
degree. She finally settled on a field of study about which she is truly
passionate (nutrition/dietetics) – only to discover that it is not offered at
BYU-Idaho. She hopes to finish a Bachelor’s degree in dietetics while Tim works
on his Masters/PH.D, and has already completed many of the pre-requisite
classes for that program. Meanwhile, she’s finding in-home outlets for her
nutritional interests. The salads abound! She also competed in her first ever
Triathlon (among various other races), and got a great time, as expected.
Tim
is in the last weeks of his undergraduate work, and will be graduating on
December 21st with a degree in Spanish Education. The plan is to
teach High School for a couple of years to save up a few pennies toward his
post-graduate tuition. He’s been working like a mad man with a full class
schedule, work as a TA for several professors on campus, and night shifts as a
hospice caregiver. He even see’s the family sometimes! He also got to run the
Top of Utah Marathon in Logan – his second time.
And then there
is Dominic. Dominic Ephraim Hall
abandoned his natal nest at 1:32 pm on the 23rd of May to join the
outside world. I guess he wanted more space to move around. And the food’s
better. Irene courageously delivered him without medication, and Tim got to
catch! We were blessed to have Tim’s mother, Valerie, as our Midwife. Dominic
has a naturally happy disposition and loves being entertained by his parents
(the clown-act). He enjoys splashing mom and dad as they monitor his bath time,
trying desperately to grab Dad’s plate at dinner, being cuddled by Mom, blowing
raspberries with a concerned expression on his face, listen to Dad play the
guitar, roll over – and over and over, go running with Mom, and get thrown up
in the air by Dad.
And now, we’re
off to Alaska. That’s right – we’re moving to the Last Frontier for Tim’s
student teaching. We’ve been very blessed and supported by friends, family, and
our God this year, and we give thanks. The Lord bless you and keep you all,
